The Sydney Contemporary Orchestra (SCO) is seeking inspirational and experienced managers to help us run this innovative orchestra, in order to promote compositions of living composers, to build on its musical achievements, and to develop our reputation as a leader in contemporary music internationally.

The tasks:

  • seek sponsors
  • prepare grant and funding applications
  • manage concert ticketing and marketing
  • maintain liaison with international composers
  • maintain liaison with the SCO musicians
  • recruit new professional musicians
  • recruit new members for Youth Symphony orchestras
  • maintain liaison with rehearsal and concert venues
  • manage website backends
  • manage social media backends
  • manage email systems
  • manage Google Ads.


These key responsibilities require a candidate with:

  • great passion for innovative new ideas
  • excellent management skills
  • strong liaison, networking, and relationship-building skills
  • strong ability to support change initiatives
  • comprehensive knowledge in computer skills and Google AdWords
  • excellent commercial and marketing skills
  • grant and funding applications experience
  • resilience, energy, creativity, and commitment
  • positive attitude and working with integrity and mindfulness
  • enormous passion for volunteer work.
